44

My brother and his friends were 21/22 when their mate passed away. My brothers friends mean everything to him, they’re the reason I rarely see him when im home as he’s always doing something with them, whether that’s going to the gym or watching the footy. especially since he’s come back to living at home after graduating for university. I mean if he’s not with them, he’ll be playing on the Xbox with them. This time together is very important, especially after losing a very special friend of theirs.

These images are a narrative story of their times spent hanging out together and trying to go back to ‘normal’ after such a difficult time.

Over the course of couple months, I would tag along to some of their hangouts, whether that’s in the park playing football, or hanging out at each others house. This series is called ‘44’, as this was their mates lucky number and also the name of his clothing brand he was starting. Throughout the series, you will see this number pop up, from matching tattoos, to t-shirts and rugby jerseys. This series ends with images taken from a charity event, which included of a big friendly game of rugby between those who knew Zac.The number ‘44’ is worn in honour on the back of their shirts.

This series is to show how important male friendship is to my brother, and how important it should be to men overll, especially within difficult times.
